I haven't seen many Mexican restaurants since coming to MD, though I'm told I must not be looking very hard. I hear a lot of people talk of this one so I decided to try it out. The two times I've been here, the service could be a little better, but still not too bad. The chips are good, salsa could be spicier, and the other dip they bring out I cannot stand (Looks and tastes like a ranch or sour cream dip). I ordered a chicken dish, which came with onions peppers and mushrooms, with tortillas on the side. I absolutely enjoyed it, and makes me pretty full, which is usually hard to do for me at a Mexican restaurant without eating lots of chips and salsa afterwards. I would like to come back and try more dishes for an official review of their food, but so far it's been great. I will be back.

I don't often take the time to write a review. Often people do because something has gone wrong. I am writing this one because I feel it is deserving. I have met the owner of this wonderful establishment and he is one of the nicest people. I have enjoyed every meal I have had here. The food is always fresh and hot when it comes to the table and you never have to wait very long. The entire staff is always friendly, helpful and literally make you feel at home. A small locally owned business that truly cares!

Very good. Friendly people. Food is good and affordable. Drinks are awesome. I love the salsa and white sauce they serve with the tortilla chips.

I had a much better second experience. I ordered the Red Snapper and it was pretty awesome. Our waitress Dreama was the bees knees and made the experience very enjoyable.

Place was fairly empty... sat at the bar and had some chicken fajitas... pleasantly surprised! They were very tasty, well season and moist. Not as good as my all time favorite Uncle Julio - but this joint was in a Myrtle Beach strip mall. Bottom line - I would come back again...

Food is good, but not authentic. I have a huge gripe regarding the pricing. I ordered a chicken torta (sandwich). I asked for jalapeños and hot salsa added to the sandwich. The bill came out to over $11. I said, how is that- sandwich listed at $7.75. They obnoxiously charged $3 for added jalapeños and salsa. He actually said "Everything has a cost". He literally charged a 40 percent surcharge for a few jalapeños and salsa. Unbelievable. So many people from our medical center go there. I've started telling them what banditos they are over there. Never going again.

SO GOOD! Fast, friendly service, and the burrito I got was DEFINITELY a burrito worth the $10 I spent on it :)

I think they may have changed the cook recently, but there are far too many frozen foods on the menu. I went here a few times and the margaritas, prices and portion sizes are quite nice. However, lately the service is lacking and the food is mediocre at best. I got the red snapper about a year ago and it was excellent, well seasoned and moist. However, I went here recently and it was dry as the Sahara desert, and I had to actually add hot sauce for flavor purposes. To be honest, it probably wasn't even a red snapper but probably a cheap tilapia. Based on my recent experiences, I can't rate this place too high. Not only because there are better Mexican restaurants obviously, but the service and food has gotten worse. For this place, they need a more condensed menu, It's so vast that you can tell they store many frozen foods. If they have more signature dishes, then they'd keep a fresh supply. However, many of the locals are happy and the place stays packed due to the lack of good food in the region.

Best Mexican food I've had in a LONG time. Staff was friendly and personable. My son got something that came out a little too spicy for him, they made something else at no charge!! I never asked for that and was prepared to pay for what he originally ordered! Will make it a point to go back WEEKLY!!

Good food, but always busy. I guess that's because the food is so good. Italian & Mexican food are my favorites so my family are repeat patrons.

I ordered the carnitas burrito, to go. The portions were surprisingly large, and I was excited to see how it stacked up against my go-to place for burritos (Chipotle). The first few bites were underwhelming, but not bad. It tasted more like a pot roast stuffed inside of a tortilla. Very little seasoning - until I got to the center. I bit into what must have been several tablespoons of cilantro, all piled onto the center of the burrito. If you enjoy eating heaps of cilantro by itself, this could be a bonus. But if you're used to it being an enhancement, and not the main ingredient, it's very off-putting. Would not recommend.

Worst waiter of all time. I was with my obviously elderly father and asked if the quesadilla was easy to pick up. The waiter confirmed that it was. I explained my dad's issues and still he confirmed. He returned 10 minutes later with a wet sloppy mess and the excuse that if he wanted, my dad could eat it openface. Awful.

This is the sister restaurant of Fiesta's a few miles south. Some new stuff on menu. Owner was there to check on us. My brothers and I just stopped in for a late lunch. Its a tad more expensive then the other place, but the rennovations are nice to that space. Give it a try!

I don't know if I can speak to whether this is authentic Mexican food. All I can judge is whether I like it or not. I have never been disappointed in a meal here. There are a number of Mexican restaurants in the Lexington Park, Southern Maryland area. This is the best, more consistent one I have been to in this area. I have been satisfied with multiple visits and have had a variety of items here. I have been to Mexican places in Texas with locals which I assume are more authentic. I would put this up against those places. That's enough for me and I have recommended it to others.

Anyone convinced that this is authentic Mexican food, is probably simply basing that on the fact that the majority of the staff is of Spanish descent, and has not had authentic, freshly made Mexican food. Where to begin? Me and my boyfriend came in there, expecting great things. He told me that he'd eaten there before, and that you could get full for cheap. Well, that is true. Nothing was more than 20 dollars, in fact I don't think anything was 20 dollars. So, the price is really quite nice. The decor, while nice, was over shadowed by the clinical-feeling over head lighting. Regarding our service, our waiter was quite cold. Tossing things down to us, and not checking on us at all. Its probably because we weren't a table of ladies, or a birthday party, so they didnt expect much money from us. Shame, because we tip for good service. The only person who was kind was the boy who brought out our food. The food came out fast, but you could tell that it wasn't because the chef was back there hustling, but instead because the majority of the food was already pre made. I ordered the taco salad, and it was in a sad state. The beans just looked disgusting. The fried tortilla tasted old, like the oil it was fried in was old. The shredded beef was not a sight to behold either. My boyfriend ordered a red snapper fillet, and it was dry, underseasoned, and burned on one side. You could tell it was a frozen fillet too. For dessert, we ordered the deep fried icecream. Sometimes, less is more, and this certainly could have benefitted from that. It came out with an old-tasting maraschino cherry on top, and slathered in whip cream. Cherry aside, it tasted alright. Is it so much to ask for fresh ingredients? Finally, they started cleanup an hour prior to the establishment closing, so there was a really strong and unpleasant Pinesol smell present while we ate. All in all, it was a unique experience. I would say the highlight was that Captain America and Batman were there greeting people, though I didn't get to speak to them myself. If you don't mind old, premade food that has probably been sitting out, waiting to be ordered, and biased service, then this is the place for you! Non-authentic places like Chipotle and Cafe Rio easily trump this place though. I probably won't be going here again.

Um...throwing a pound of salt on a dish doesn't make it authentic Mexican. I'm usually willing to deal with subpar service if the food makes up for it. That's not the case here! The food came out too quickly to have been made fresh. My kids had chicken quesadillas; the tortilla was burnt and the chicken tasted at least a week old and was entirely too salty. My steak fajitas were swimming in so much oil I wasn't able to stomach 3/4 of the meal. Perhaps my standards for Mexican food are a little high, but honestly it takes real effort to screw it up!

Not sure what happened to my previous review, but this is a great place to eat. Having a separate bar area makes it even better as the main restaurant can be overrun by families with kids. I count Weight Watchers points and the Chipotle Shrimp Salad is both filling and flavorful. Easy choice for everyone in the family. We've brought large groups of over 12.

Tequila grill has great Mexican food in Southern Maryland, but the service has been spotty the last few times I've been there. I'm giving it 3.5 stars, but hopefully I can update it in the future, because TG is a favorite of my parents and I enjoy the food every time I'm visiting. TG is much more authentic than your typical Tex-Mex place - for one, they use the white cheese. I don't know why, but if they have white cheese, it seems more authentic to me. I also LOVE it and can't pass up cheese dip (which is just melted queso blanco, but OH so good). Getting past the cheese dip, the chips and salsa are good. The chips could be lighter and saltier, but the salsa is really fresh and flavorful. My boyfriend always gets the chicken fajitas, which are super cheap at lunch and still really reasonable at dinner. You get a huge portion of well-marinated, tender, grilled chicken with grilled onions and peppers as well. It's accompanied by lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, rice and beans, and tortillas. Last night, my dad got a chicken dish we finished completely (although to be honest, might not have anything to do with the quality of the food - that's pretty normal for my dad). I got the taco salad with grilled chicken, which the menu noted would also come with grilled onions and peppers. What the menu did not say was that it would not come with lettuce, tomato, and the other normal salad toppings that are on a taco salad. I pretty much just got fajitas in a taco shell. It was still good, but I really did want the "salad" part too. I also asked for the sour cream and guacamole on the side, but never got them. My real issues with TG (preventing me from giving more stars) are with the service -- the last two times I've been, the service has been pretty bad, but for different reasons. The first time, the waiter ignored us most of the meal due to a huge table (of about 20 people) right next to ours. Last night, I'm pretty sure the waiter was OCD. Right after giving us our drinks, he came by to ask that we give him all the paper wrappers from the straws and sugar packets that were lying on the table. They weren't bothering us and we were in the middle of a conversation, but he was intent on getting every last wrapper. He also came by once just to re-arrange the chips and salsa, and he was there constantly asking if we wanted our more-than-half-full drinks refilled. The hovering waiter definitely made it hard to enjoy the meal. Nevertheless, the food and prices are good, so we will likely keep going back when we're down visiting my parents. It is definitely one of the better food options in Southern Maryland.

Same owners as Fiesta Cafe. And the quality is fantastic. The wait may be a bit long on a friday or saturday evening, but its worth it!

Best Authentic Mexican food I have ever had! Staff is very friendly and attentive. We have come here or visited their sister restaurant at least 15 to 20 times. The #1 place to eat in Charlotte Hall/Mechanicsville. No need to drive to 20 miles to enjoy a good meal!

Everything from service to food was great. Gets a little nutty when it's really busy. You never are without someone waiting on you!

Love this place! I go here at least once a week. I usually get the pollo asada, grilled chicken fajitas, or chicken torta. The food is always excellent, in my opinion.

Went here last night for the 2nd time and was impressed both times. This time was there for a meeting and even with the amount of people the service was good and food was delivered to the table in a reasonable amount of time. I had the chalupas with Tinga spicy and delish. The food is more Mexican than tex/mex which is refreshing.

This place is like my favorite type of restaurant...which is to say, the sort that isn't afraid to use A LOT of cheese. I basically ate a brick of melted cheese. It was delightful. Honestly though, this is a nice, low key strip mall Mexican place. I recommend it.

I want to love this place, but it's rather inconsistent. On our first visit, we were seated in a large booth (we were given a choice of tables, which is awesome). Our waiter helped us quickly with drinks and chips and dips. Chips come with salsa and a white sauce that's like sweet ranch. Nothing special. The chips were not hot but seemed fresh. My veggie fajitas came out very quickly. They were huge and nicely cooked, not soggy or oily. The side plate with rice, beans, guacamole and lettuce was a nice size. The meal wasn't very exciting, but it was filling and reasonably priced. My husband's food was slightly delayed, but his steak tampaquena was huge. It came with a large steak, beans, rice, tortillas, guacamole, and another bean dish. He said it was very tasty. Service on this visit was very good. Our second visit was underwhelming. Our waiter was not personable and drink refills were not provided as needed. This time, my food was delayed until after my family had finished their entire meals. The waiter provided updates, saying it was coming, but it was still slow. My family liked their meals but nothing was a standout. I'll probably return to see if the first, positive visit or the second, negative visit is more the norm.

I order taco salad the beans were not that great. To drink I had orchata but it had to much milk it was expensive. We will not be back there to eat. The restaurant looks nice and clean just the food it wasn't good.

I've been here a few times and the first was better than the second but overall good food. The service is friendly. The chips this last time could have been a tad fresher and my enchilada was just luke-warm so that could have been warmer. Rice was good. Overall a pretty good place to eat.

This place seriously has it all. The food is delicious, authentic, reasonably priced and served fast and fresh. The staff is all super friendly and welcoming. The building is clean and always quickly accommodating to any size party we show up with. I wish I could give it more stars! This is definitely a family favorite!

FAST! Friendly service. Open enough for easy handicapped accessibility. Good food! Seemed better then just old Mexican restaurant.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
